Old FRUMP? Well, that got me my first belly laugh of the day. He was one of the most fascinating people I have ever met... with opinions which I didn't realize were weird till much much later. He could be deadly serious -- he was very much a cold warrior -- and as for scholarly, he definitely had that side.

Just found this site. I love the wonderfully geeky-looking pictures on the masthead; I always pictured "Cordwainer Smith" to be a rather serious, scholarly old frump.

A month or so I cleared out the vast majority of my SF section. One of the few authors all of whose books remain on my shelf is Cordwainer Smith.

I didn't notice that particular one, Alan. I spent quite a lot of time messing around with the settings in the store, and I don't think there is a way to clean them up.

But I will add a sentence to the store, warning people.

Thanks!

Hi Zana --
The CS Bookstore is a helpful addition to your website. However, Amazon.com's listings of the Linebarger publications are a mess. Not your fault, I know, but I wonder if there's some way to clean them up. I've tried occasionally to point out to individual online book dealers (who are Amazon's backup dealers for out-of-print and used items) that they are mis-labeling some books as by your father though they were by your grandfather. For instance, "Mes Memoires Abreges Sur Les Revolutions De Sun-yat-sen" is your grandfather's autobiography, and anyone who pays $250 for it under the assumption that Cordwainer Smith wrote it is going to be sadly disappointed.
Best regards, Alan
